Swimming in Priest Lake Water 💦– It’s something we take for granted until we suddenly don’t have it anymore. Living in the van, I have begun to truly understand the amount of water we waste on a daily basis. Living on seven gallons of water at a time and sharing it between two people lasts us ~four days. Of course, this does not include showering or flushing toilets. But it does include cooking, washing (dishes, hands, and teeth), drinking water, and just about anything else that we need it for. I am happy that, even though the van adds certain creature comforts that backpacking doesn’t, it still allows me to appreciate the small things (or big, for that matter) in life.
