Backpacking in the Wind River Range Finally made it into the Wind River Range 🏔 this past weekend...such a beautiful area! We got a gentlemanly start on Saturday, starting at 6pm, and camping at Hobbs Lake. Sunday we made up for it by hiking ~20mi on the Highline trail, cutting West towards Summit lake and then down some of the Summit Lake trail. Monday we anticipated getting back to the car around lunchtime, but, on the 2000ft descent, ran into a section of trail that had been abandoned (lots of trees down and shortened switchbacks...leading to a steeper descent)...subsequently we also found a dead horse at the bottom of a particularly steep section. A great loop, but man was it rough after having not been very active the past couple of months, while working on the van. We estimated that we hiked 40mi, the lowest elevation at 7,649ft and the highest at 11,073ft.
